Ayurvedic Bodywork

Ayurveda is the sister science of Yoga. Ayurveda translates as “life science” as it shows us how to live harmoniously with nature. Ayurveda teaches us how to align with nature and views dis-ease or illness as an imbalance or stress in one’s consciousness. It is a system of health that takes all aspects of a human being into account: mental, physical, spiritual, and environmental.  Ayurveda seeks to restore balance using lifestyle interventions and natural healing treatments including massage therapy, herbal medicines and yoga practices.

The Ayurvedic bodywork sessions below are used to cleanse, heal, and harmonize the body, mind, and spirit. I use all organic products in every treatment. All oils and products are tridoshic (balancing for all doshas), and I will make modifications to cater your treatment towards your constitution as we continue working together. Even if you are unfamiliar with Ayurveda, you will feel the restorative, blissful effects of these treatments. Read more about the benefits of massage here.

Abhyanga Warm Oil Massage

A deeply nourishing, grounding massage that uses warm oil all over the body. This treatment promotes lymphatic movement, joint lubrication and relaxation. It is particularly soothing for vata constitutions, or those that experience restlessness, anxiety and nervous system depletion.

NOTE: I use a lot of oil in this treatment! Please wear or bring clothes you don’t mind getting oily to your session.

Ayurvedic Facial Rejuvenation

This treatment is powerful and luxurious! The ayurvedic facial rejuvenation stimulates blood flow & circulation to the deep layers of the skin through massage, steam, cleansing & toning and wrinkle therapy. Marma points on the face and scalp are massaged to calm the activity of the mind, creating a state of peace and tranquility. All products are organic, natural and tridoshic.

Marma Point

Using energy points on the body, this treatment restores the proper flow of prana (energy) and enhances the natural ability of the body to heal. This treatment is good for mental and emotional balance, the nervous system, pain in the body, paralysis, cancer and more. Marmas are used therapeutically in Ayurveda to bring in a shift of consciousness in the cells. Dr. Vasant Lad says that massaging the marma points “activates the body’s inner pharmacy, changing the biochemistry, and can unfold radical, alchemical change in one’s makeup.”

Nasya

This therapy opens the breathing channels and promotes a clear mind. Nasya emphasizes facial massage using marma points of the head, face and neck along with heat therapy. It is followed by nasal administration of herbalized oils to clean and purify the sinuses. A great option for allergies, snoring, sinusitis, tinnitus, sleep apnea and headaches.
